IBM and Yotta Partner to Launch Sovereign Agentic AI Platform for Indian Enterprises
BENGALURU – IBM and Yotta Data Services have announced a strategic partnership to deliver a dedicated Agentic AI platform for enterprises and government organizations in India.
The collaboration aims to host IBM watsonx Orchestrate on Yotta’s Shakti Cloud infrastructure. This move is designed to help Indian organizations scale artificial intelligence while strictly adhering to local data residency, security, and regulatory compliance mandates.
Advancing AI Orchestration
As businesses transition from testing AI to full-scale operations, there is a growing need for systems that can manage complex workflows. The proposed platform will allow organizations to deploy and manage autonomous AI agents across various business functions, including:
IT Service Management
Human Resources (HR)
Finance and Procurement
Customer Support
Operational Sovereignty
A major highlight of this partnership is the introduction of IBM Sovereign Core to Yotta’s India-based Shakti Cloud. This software platform is built to help organizations maintain “Digital Sovereignty” across four key areas:
Data Sovereignty: Keeping data at rest and in motion under local control.
Operational Sovereignty: Maintaining control over how environments are managed.
Technology Sovereignty: Using open architectures to avoid being locked into a single vendor.
AI Sovereignty: Governing where models run and how they make decisions.
Leadership Insights
“AI innovation in India must be anchored in sovereignty, security, and performance,” said Sunil Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of Yotta Data Services. He emphasized that the partnership allows enterprises to innovate with confidence while maintaining total control over their data.
Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India & South Asia, noted that the collaboration will help organizations scale AI responsibly by embedding governance and trust into the system from the very beginning.
Industry Impact
The partnership will specifically target highly regulated sectors in India, including BFSI (Banking and Financial Services), the Public Sector, and Manufacturing. By utilizing Yotta’s MeitY-empanelled infrastructure and IBM’s advanced AI stack, the initiative provides a robust foundation for the next generation of sovereign digital services in the country.
