BENGALURU: Building on its electrification roadmap, India Yamaha Motor has officially launched the Aerox E, a high-performance electric scooter tailored for premium urban mobility. Developed locally in India, the new model carries forward Yamaha’s iconic Maxi Sports design philosophy. It launches at a price of ₹2.81 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, and will be sold exclusively through premium Yamaha Blue Square Showrooms in select cities. Offered in a striking Bluish White Cocktail color variant, the Aerox E aims to bridge the gap between aggressive sport styling and sustainable everyday commuting.

The heart of the scooter is a high-output Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that delivers 9.4 kW of peak power and 48 Nm of torque. This powertrain enables a top speed of 95.5 km/h alongside instant, responsive acceleration for quick city overtakes. To help riders manage their energy and power, the scooter features Eco, Standard, and Power riding modes, allowing performance to be tailored precisely to traffic conditions. Yamaha has also included a specialized Boost function for rapid bursts of speed, as well as a Reverse mode to make parking in tight urban spaces far easier.

Addressing charging anxiety, the vehicle features a dual removable battery setup comprising two 1.5 kWh packs. Engineered with ergonomic grips, each battery can be pulled out effortlessly for convenient home or office charging, taking about three hours and ten minutes to power up completely. Crucially, the scooter can operate on a single battery, allowing riders to continue commuting while the second pack is plugged in at home. Yamaha backs this technology with a substantial three-year or 30,000 km warranty on the battery packs.

True to the Aerox lineage, the electric variant utilizes Yamaha’s unique design philosophy, characterized by its sharp lines, large proportions, and signature X motif. It comes equipped with sharp LED headlights, an LED taillight, and revised ergonomics designed for a comfortable yet sporty riding posture.

On the safety front, the Aerox E features front and rear disc brakes backed by single-channel ABS and a Traction Control System for stable grip on slick roads. The cockpit is highly modernized, anchoring around a 5-inch color TFT display that provides built-in, turn-by-turn navigation. This system integrates seamlessly with the Y-Connect mobile app, which delivers vehicle maintenance reminders, trip data, and a last-parked locator directly to the rider’s smartphone. Everyday convenience is rounded out by a smart key system and an externally located charging port that eliminates the need to lift the seat for quick plug-ins. Sales are scheduled to begin immediately across select urban markets.
